DNV has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Greek operator Saronic Ferries to enable the development of a new electric ferry.

The collaboration seeks to introduce a fully electric ferry concept for deployment on short-sea passenger routes in the Argosaronikos area. Once in service, the vessel will also be the first fully-electric ferry operating in Greek waters.

Saronic Ferries partner George Papaioannides said the company hopes to have a purely emissions-free fleet by 2040.
