Swiss builder Shiptec has begun construction on two new ferries in a series for operation between Switzerland and France via Lake Geneva.

The Omega Architects-designed ferries will each have a length of 60 metres, seating for up to 700 passengers, and hybrid propulsion.

Delivery of the first vessel is scheduled for the summer of 2021 while the second is expected to be handed over approximately one year later. Local shipping line Compagnie Générale de Navigation sur le Lac Léman (CGN) will begin operating the ferries in December 2022.
