Alexeev launches second Valdai hydrofoil

Alexeev’s Hydrofoil Design Bureau in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod region has launched its second Valdai 45R hydrofoil.

Designed for high-speed transportation of 45 passengers in daylight hours, the shallow-draught unbathed hydrofoil can operate in deep rivers across Russia.

Tests have shown the 21.3-metre by 5.2-metre vessel reached a maximum speed of 40 knots.

Powered by a 454kW Man engine, the vessel will undergo mooring and sea trials and an interior fit-out.

She has a cruising endurance of eight hours and range of 400 kilometres.
