Viking’s newest ocean-going ship hits the water in Italy

Viking Cruises’ newest ocean-going vessel was floated out at the Ancona facilities of Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri on Thursday, July 15.

Fincantieri said the 930-passenger Viking Mars will be placed in the owner’s small ship segment. The vessel is the eighth in a series of ships that each have 465 guest cabins including suites and all-veranda staterooms, two swimming pools, a Scandinavian-inspired spa, al fresco dining options, and a vast library.

Viking Mars will also feature “safe return to port” and exhaust gas emission reduction systems.
