VESSEL REVIEW | Vista – Oceania Cruises’ newest ship slated for Mediterranean and Caribbean itineraries

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ Oceania Cruises brand has taken delivery of a new ocean-going ship from Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri.

Vista is the first of the two-ship Allura-class that Fincantieri is building for Miami-based Oceania Cruises. The Lloyd’s Register-classed newbuild has an LOA of 793 feet (242 metres), a beam of 118 feet (36 metres), a draught of 25 feet (7.7 metres), a gross tonnage of 67,000, and accommodations for 1,200 guests at double occupancy as well as 800 crewmembers.

The guest amenities span 11 decks and include 12 restaurants, eight bars, casual and VIP lounges, venues for live entertainment, a combination spa and wellness centre, a pool, a casino, and all-veranda accommodations consisting of both single staterooms and suites. Concierge level veranda staterooms are also available for solo travellers, marking the first inclusion of such staterooms in an Oceania Cruises ship.

The guest cabins come in different size categories with the largest single staterooms having floor areas of approximately 290 square feet (26.9 square metres) each. The suites meanwhile range in area from 440 square feet (40 square metres) to 1,850 square feet (171 square metres) each.

Architecture firm Studio DADO was responsible for the work on the ship’s interior spaces, which also include the lifts, the stairwells, and the corridors.

Vista has already commenced operational sailings under the flag of the Marshall Islands. The ship’s maiden voyage in mid-May 2023 was from Rome to Venice and its upcoming summer sailings will be within the Mediterranean. In September, it will sail to Canada and New England before heading south for a series of winter itineraries exploring Mexico, Bermuda, and the Caribbean from its homeport of Miami. The 2024 summer season will see the ship return to the Mediterranean and begin serving additional itineraries in the Aegean and the Adriatic with stops including Italy, Greece, and the Holy Land.
