Austria-based family-owned shipping line Luftner Cruises, which also operates under the name Amadeus River Cruises, recently took delivery of a new river cruise ship built jointly by Vahali Shipyards in Serbia and TeamCo Shipyard in the Netherlands.
The Lloyd’s Register-classed Amadeus Cara is the fourth in a series of river cruise ships to be built for Luftner beginning with Amadeus Silver III, which was delivered in 2016.
Amadeus Cara has an LOA of 135 metres, a beam of 11.5 metres, a draught of 1.7 metres, and 72 cabins and 10 suites that can accommodate up to 162 guests across three decks. The suites each have an area of 26.4 square metres while the single cabins each range from 16 to 17.5 square metres.
Another 26 twin-berth cabins and four single-berth cabins will house the ship’s 56-strong crew.
The guest cabins on the second and third decks feature panoramic window fronts that can be lowered and extended across the entire beam, while the 10 suites each feature a walk-in balcony. All guest cabins come with individual air conditioning, spacious bathrooms, infotainment systems, flatscreen TVs, safes, and minibars.
Onboard facilities include a restaurant, a bar, a cafe, lounges, a sun deck with game areas, a gift shop, a fitness centre, and a massage room. All interior spaces benefit from a two-stage air filtration system.
The two 783kW main engines can propel the ship to a maximum speed of 13.8 knots and a service speed of 11.8 knots.
Amadeus Cara will sail under the German flag. Its itineraries will include stops in Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland via the Danube and Rhine Rivers as well as the latter’s tributaries.
