Turkish owner acquires ex-Saga Cruises ship

Turkey’s Anex Tour has completed its previously announced acquisition of the Malta-flagged cruise ship Saga Sapphire from UK-based Saga Cruises.

The vessel will be renamed Blue Sapphire and will be the first cruise ship in the Anex fleet. Operational sailings with its new owners are scheduled to commence in 2021.

Originally delivered to Hapag-Lloyd Cruises as Europa in 1981, Saga Sapphire had sailed under four different owners before finally joining the Saga Cruises fleet in 2012.
