A strong unexpected gust of wind caused a cruise ship to tilt violently as it was sailing out of New York Harbor at 11:45 local time on Sunday, March 3.

The Norwegian Cruise Line vessel Norwegian Escape reportedly tilted by as much as 35 degrees after it was struck by a gust of wind with an estimated strength of 100 knots.

The vessel itself suffered no damage though furniture, glassware, and other loose objects on board were thrown about, resulting in minor debris being scattered on the various decks.

Several passengers and crew ended up with minor injuries and have since been treated by the ship’s medical staff.

Norwegian Escape is reportedly continuing its itinerary as planned.
