Helsinki Shipyard starts building expedition vessels for Vodokhod

PASSENGER VESSEL WEEK

On Monday, April 27, Helsinki Shipyard held a steel-cutting ceremony to mark the beginning of construction of two expedition vessels in a series for Russian operator Vodokhod.

The ice class vessels will be capable of operating in both Arctic and Antarctic waters during winter and summer, as well as in tropical waters during the spring and autumn. Each will have a length of 113 metres, a beam of 20.2 metres, a draught of 5.7 metres, capacity for 157 passengers, and a cruising speed of 14 knots.

Delivery of the vessels will be in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
