French yard lays keel of Royal Caribbean’s second LNG-fuelled ship

French shipbuilder Chantiers de l’Atlantique has laid the keel of the future Utopia of the Seas, the second LNG-fuelled ship slated to join the fleet of cruise operator Royal Caribbean International.

Notable features on the vessel will include waste heat recovery systems and shore power charging capability.

Utopia of the Seas will debut in the spring of 2024. It will be the sixth and final ship in the Oasis-class as well as the only one in the class to be powered by LNG.
