First steel cut for MSC Cruises’ second LNG-powered ship

French shipyard Chantiers de l’Atlantique has cut the first steel for the second LNG-powered vessel slated to join the fleet of MSC Cruises.

Named MSC Euribia after the ancient Greek goddess of the seas, the vessel is scheduled to enter service with MSC Cruises in June 2023.

The vessel will have four dual-fuel engines, an SCR system to ensure compliance with IMO Tier III NOx standards, a shore-to-ship power connection for use while in port, and hull and engine room designs that minimise underwater acoustic sound impact on marine life.
