Croatian shipyard lays keel for polar expedition vessel Hondius

Croatia’s Brodosplit shipyard has held a keel-laying ceremony for Polar class 6 expedition vessel Hondius.

Hull number 484 was used for the polar cruise ship, which is being contracted for Polar Expeditions.

Able to accommodate 196 passengers in 86 cabins, the vessel will be 107 metres long, with a breadth of 17.6 metres and it will be equipped with two main engines for a total of 4,200kW, generating a speed of 15 knots.

The ship will be available to Arctic travellers in March 2019.
