Fincantieri has begun conducting sea trials of the new cruise ship Carnival Panorama following a period of outfitting that began last December.

The 135,000-tonne ship departed Fincantieri's Marghera shipyard in Italy and sailed for Malamocco Channel leading out to the Adriatic Sea on the morning (local time) of Saturday, June 29.

The trials are expected to be completed in time for Carnival Panorama's scheduled introduction into service on December 11 of this year.

Carnival Cruise Line will operate the vessel on week-long voyages along the Mexican Riviera.
