AIDA Cruises has confirmed that it will sell the oldest ship in its fleet, the 1996-built AIDAcara, as part of a companywide restructuring.

The sale will also help make way for the introduction of newer vessels, including the LNG-powered AIDAcosma set to enter service before the end of the year.

AIDA said that AIDAcara, which is also the very first vessel acquired by the company, will be handed over to its new owners in the coming weeks. The vessel’s scheduled itineraries will be taken over by other ships in the AIDA fleet.
