1930s twist for Disney’s LNG newbuilds

Disney Cruise Line says its three new LNG-powered vessels will be inspired by the golden age of ocean cruising from the 1920s and 1930s.

About 140,000GT and larger than Disney’s newest 130,000GT ships, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, they will include 1,250 passenger staterooms.

Featuring red twin funnels, a dark hull and a white superstructure, the artist’s impression includes a waterslide on the top deck.

German shipbuilder Meyer Werft will deliver the three ships in 2021, 2022 and 2023.

Disney Chairman Bob Iger told the annual general meeting that design plans, ship names and itineraries are still in development, but the vessels will include new technologies, entertainment and Disney stories and characters “than ever before”.
