Helsinki City Transport’s remotely operated ferry completes initial trials

Helsinki City Transport has successfully completed the first trials of its remotely operated passenger ferry Suomenlinna II.

An onshore control center steered the vessel from Helsinki’s market square of Kauppatori to a pre-selected area within Helsinki Harbour during the trials.

Research trials will continue to use Suomenlinna II as a testbed, after which it will revert to reliance on its onboard conventional controls for operational sailing.
