Mabuhay Maritime Express to launch Boracay ferry service

An MME ferry undergoing trials in Manila Bay

Philippine Airlines subsidiary Mabuhay Maritime Express Transport (MME) is slated to begin its ferry operations in the last week of October 2018.

The company’s newbuild catamarans will ply the ferry route between the municipality of Kalibo and Boracay Island, both of which are in Aklan province in the Central Philippines.

Each ferry has a length of 42 metres, a cruising speed of 26 knots, a crew of 22, and regular, premium, and first-class cabin accommodations for 410 passengers.

MME will launch its ferry services after the Philippine Government’s expected official declaration on October 26 that Boracay, one of the country’s major holiday destinations, is ready to receive tourists following a six-month environmental rehabilitation period.
