Wightlink’s new vessel completes first sea trials

Wightlink’s new flagship vessel has completed her first sea trials in the Sea of Marmara.

The boat has completed three days sailing with staff from the Cemre Shipyard in Yalova, a Lloyd’s Register surveyor, numerous specialist engineers and Wightlink representatives on board.

All essential systems and full speed trials were tested and completed.

One of the ship’s four marine evacuation systems was successfully deployed and most of the crew on board used the inflatable slide to enter the life rafts as a drill.

The drencher system which covers both the lower and upper car decks was tested and sprayed a huge amount of water on the decks.

Victoria of Wight can carry up to 178 cars and more than 1,000 passengers.
