Astilleros Gondán delivers second fast ferry to Baleària

Spain’s Astilleros Gondán has delivered the second of four fast ferries to Baleària.

The 28-metre catamaran Ecolux, which can carry 350 passengers (270 indoor and 80 on the upper deck), has an operating speed of 28 knots.

Equipped with photovoltaic solar panels for on-board services, Ecolux is powered by propellers and two 1,066kW diesel engines.

The catamarans are designed to operate on short-haul routes carried out by the shipping company in the Balearic islands.

The first of the catamarans was delivered in December.
