Offshore wind-optimised vessels such as crewboats, maintenance vessels, and cable-layers are the focus of this week’s summary of orders and deliveries.

Sentinel Marine adds newbuild to ERRV fleet

Scottish vessel operator Sentinel Marine has taken delivery of a new emergency response and rescue vessel (ERRV) built by a shipyard in southeastern China.

The 60-metre-long Cromarty Sentinel has a DP2 system and equipment that will allow it to perform the secondary function of oil spill recovery.

Accomodations are available for 34 crew and other personnel.

CWind Taiwan acquires new crewboat

CWind Taiwan, a joint venture between CWind and International Ocean Vessel Technical Consultant (IOVTEC), has acquired a new crewboat built by Singapore’s Penguin International.

CWind Pesanach measures 27 metres long and is powered by four Scania DI16 engines connected to four Hamilton HM521 waterjets to deliver a maximum speed of 29 knots.

The newbuild is already operating in support of a unnamed developer at a wind farm offshore Changhua county.

Mainprize Offshore orders windfarm support catamaran

Mainprize Offshore has awarded Manor Marine UK a contract for the construction of a new catamaran windfarm crewboat.

The vessel will be the second that Manor Marine will build for Mainprize. It will have a cargo capacity of 40 tonnes, seating for 24 passengers, and a maximum speed of 27 knots.

Delivery is scheduled for early 2023.

Norway’s Awind taps Chinese yard for CSOV newbuildings

Norway-based Awind, a wholly owned subsidiary of Integrated Wind Solutions (IWS), has awarded newbuilding contracts for two high-specification, purpose-built walk-to-work commissioning, service and operations vessels (CSOVs).

The vessels are scheduled for delivery in Q1 and Q2 2023, respectively from China Merchants Heavy Industry. In addition, Awind has secured option agreements for up to four additional vessels.

New cable-layer to be built for Taiwan’s High Tien Offshore

Taiwan’s High Tien Offshore Engineering has confirmed its planned investment into a new cable-laying vessel that will serve clients in the local offshore wind market.

The vessel will be fitted with trenching equipment as well as onboard space for work-class remotely operated vehicles (WROVs).

High Tien said completion of the vessel is scheduled for the end of 2023 while initial deployment will take place the following year.
