Work Boat World Offshore Vessel Charters Roundup – March 19, 2021

Supply vessels have been seeing much of the action in the North Sea and off South America in this latest series of charter awards. The work is generally in support of various clients in the drilling and subsea construction segments, indicating a welcome increase in activity in the oil and gas market.

Solstad wins four PSV charters in UK North Sea

Four of Solstad Offshore’s platform supply vessels (PSV) have been awarded contracts for work with various clients in the UK North Sea.

Total E&P UK/Total E&P North Sea UK has awarded a term contract for Normand Springer. The vessel will be utilised by Total UK to support its UK North Sea assets for a charter period lasting one year firm, plus a one year option, beginning in the second half of March 2021.

In addition, Equinor UK has awarded Solstad two contracts for PSVs for an upcoming drilling campaign in the UK North Sea. Normand Sitella and Sea Falcon have both been contracted on a one well firm basis, commencing within the second quarter of 2021, to support the semi-submersible drilling rig West Hercules, with one option well thereafter.

Lastly, Serica Energy UK has awarded Solstad a one well firm contract for Normand Service. The contract has already commenced, and the vessel is currently supporting the jackup drilling rig Maersk Resilient.

DOF scores term contracts in UK, Guyana

DOF Group has been awarded term contracts for three of its PSVs.

The first award, commencing in April, is the charter of Skandi Gamma to Ithaca Energy UK for a period of two years firm, plus two one-year options. The vessel has been working in the UK continental shelf since 2019.

In addition, DOF Group has secured contracts for two large PSVs with an undisclosed international contractor to support pipehaul operations in Guyana in 2021 and 2022. The 2021 campaign is expected to commence early in the third quarter of this year.

DOF has previously supported pipelay activities in Guyana with the same client.

Eidesvik PSVs awarded charters by Equinor, Seabed Geosolutions

Eidesvik Offshore has been awarded a new contract by Equinor Energy for the PSV Viking Queen. The new contract will commence in April this year, in direct continuation of the current contract with Equinor.

The new firm contract period is 10 months, with options for further extensions.

Eidesvik Offshore has also been awarded a new contract by Seabed Geosolutions under the master time charter agreement for Subsea Viking. The new contract will commence in direct continuation of the existing contract.

The firm period is approximately four months with options for extensions.

Akastor AHTS pair tapped for work in Brazil

Akastor’s wholly owned subsidiary, DDW Offshore, has entered into bareboat charter agreements with OceanPact Servicos Maritimos, a Brazilian subsea and logistics company, for the AHTS vessels Skandi Saigon and Skandi Pacific for a period of 26 months. As part of the agreements, forward sale of the vessels has been agreed whereby OceanPact shall purchase the vessels at the end of the charter period.

The vessels will work for Petrobras, supporting the company’s production activities on the Brazilian continental shelf. Commencement of the two charter agreements is expected to take place in Q2 2021.

Glomar Offshore SOV to continue working for Rovco

Glomar Offshore has been awarded a charter contract by hydrographic specialist Rovco for the service operation vessel (SOV) Glomar Wave.

The DP2 vessel and its onboard work-class ROV completed an earlier charter under Rovco in late 2020. With this new charter, the vessel will resume providing support for Rovco’s offshore wind farm inspection activities.

Swift Drilling secures long term P&A contract from Wintershall Noordzee

Swift Drilling has been awarded a long-term contract by Wintershall Noordzee for the use of the jackup rig Swift 10 to perform a plug and abandonment campaign in the Dutch and German sectors of the North Sea.

The contract is expected to commence this summer with a potential duration of three to four years.
