New contracts for platform supply vessels (PSVs) are being awarded at a steadily growing pace and the number of awards themselves even increased compared to Q1 2021. This highlights what shipbroker Fearnley Offshore Supply has identified as growing optimism in a number of segments within the offshore industry. Activity remains high in the North Sea, though it is also picking up in other regions such as the Middle East and the Gulf of Mexico. Drilling activities, meanwhile, are moving steadily along, particularly in West Africa and South East Asia.

Havila Shipping PSVs tapped for new charters

Havila Shipping has entered into a contract with Norwegian energy company IKM Acona for the PSV Havila Borg. The contract is for a period of one well, estimated to a period of 35 to 90 days.

IKM Acona has the right to exercise options for up to two additional wells, estimated to up to nine months.

Equinor Energy has awarded Havila Shipping a contract for the PSV Havila Clipper. The contract is for a firm period of 70 days with options for 20 days.

Commencement of Havila Clipper‘s new contract will be in direct continuation of its existing contract.

P&O Maritime Logistics to provide vessel trio for Qatar’s North Field development

The P&O Maritime Logistics PSV Topaz Megan has been contracted to provide supply services in Qatar’s North Field development.

The vessel will later be joined in the country by PSVs Topaz Isra and Topaz Sophie, which are both working on three-year contracts in the Al Shaheen field in the Persian Gulf off Qatar.

Siem Offshore vessels to serve charters in Gulf of Mexico, North Sea

Siem Offshore has entered into a contract for an offshore project in the Gulf of Mexico with an undisclosed subsea construction company. The project will utilise the offshore subsea construction vessel (OSCV) Siem Spearfish for a scope of work consisting of subsea and ROV duties, under a minimum duration of 110 days, plus options.

Siem Spearfish will commence its new charter in direct continuation of its current commitment in West Africa, and will as such secure utilisation at least into the fourth quarter of 2021.

Meanwhile, Netherlands-based DCN Diving has has awarded Siem Offshore a 40 days firm contract plus options, in addition to mobilisation and demobilisation fees, for the multi-purpose support vessel (MPSV) Siem Dorado for work in the North Sea. The vessel has commenced its mobilisation from Norway.

TAQA selects Solstad PSV to support North Sea operations

Solstad Offshore has entered into a contract with Scottish oil and gas company TAQA Bratani for the PSV Sea Flyer.

The vessel will be utilised to support TAQA’s UK North Sea assets for a firm period of two years. Commencement of the contract will be in July 2021.

Maersk Drilling rig pair awarded work in Gabon, Ghana, Malaysia

Maersk Drilling has been awarded a one-well contract from Petronas subsidiary PC Gabon Upstream (PCGUSA) for the provision of a deepwater drillship rig.

Maersk Viking will be employed to drill an ultra-deepwater exploration well at approximately 2,100 metres water depth in Block F13 offshore Gabon. The firm one-well contract with PCGUSA will commence in Q3 202 in direct continuation of the rig’s previous work scope with Korea National Oil Corporation.

The work will have an estimated duration of 60 days and a firm contract value of approximately US$24 million, including mobilisation and demobilisation fees.

Following its work in Gabon, Maersk Viking will be deployed to serve a contract with Shell Malaysia by drilling four development wells at the Gumusut-Kakap project offshore Malaysia. The contract will to commence in December 2021 and will have an estimated duration of 150 days.

The firm contract value is approximately US$34 million including a mobilisation fee. The contract also includes five additional one-well options for work offshore Malaysia, the Philippines, and Brunei.

Based on the previously announced conditional letter of award, Maersk Drilling has been awarded a contract from Tullow Ghana for the provision of the ultra-deepwater drillship Maersk Venturer and additional services for a development drilling campaign at the TEN and Jubilee fields offshore Ghana.

The contract commenced in April 2021 and will have an estimated duration of around four years. The estimated contract value is approximately US$370 million, excluding additional services provided and potential performance bonuses.

GEOS walk-to-work vessels secure new contract, extension

Golden Energy Offshore Services’ (GEOS) walk-to-work vessel Larissa has been awarded a charter of several months for Dutch company Wintershall Noordzee. The vessel commenced working on this contract on April 13 and will remain on-site until September 1, 2021.

Despina, which commenced a contract with Fugro in January 2021, has been awarded two months more work. Its present contract has also been extended August 15, 2021. After this extension, Fugro will still have several months of options that may be declared.
