The governments of Estonia and Latvia have agreed to cooperate on the development of a new offshore wind farm that will supply electricity to the two countries' power grids.

Latvian economic minister Ralfs Nemiro said the establishment of a common wind farm will help ensure reduced operating costs as well as make the electrical supply in both Baltic countries more secure.

The wind farm will be situated in the Gulf of Riga.
