Danish operator Esvagt has awarded a contract for the conversion of two of its platform supply vessels (PSVs) into emergency response and rescue vessels (ERRVs).

Under the contract, the propulsion systems on Hermit Fighter (pictured) and Hermit Prosper will be replaced with battery hybrid systems to ensure lower emissions. The vessels will also be fitted with new prefabricated deck houses, rescue zones, and dedicated facilities for two fast rescue tenders.

The conversion work will commence at a Norwegian shipyard in October 2021.
