Spain’s Balenciaga Shipyard launched a new service operation vessel (SOV) at its facilities on Tuesday, July 27.

The future Edda Brint is the first in a series of two SOVs being built by Balenciaga for Norwegian owner Edda Wind.

Once completed, the vessel will have an LOA of 82.4 metres, accommodation for 60 people, and a battery hybrid propulsion system. Its primary role will be to operate as a platform from which technicians can perform commissioning and maintenance on offshore wind turbines.
