Spanish shipbuilder Gondan launched a new windfarm commissioning service operation vessel (CSOV) into the water on Wednesday, May 26.

The 88.3- by 19.7-metre Salt Ship-designed vessel is the first in a series of four being built by Gondan for Edda Wind, the offshore wind subsidiary of Norway’s Østensjø Rederi. It will have accommodations for 93 technicians and 27 crewmembers as well as equipment including a 3D motion compensated crane, a motion compensated gangway with a maximum range of 28 metres, and an integrated lift with capacity for 26 personnel.

For its initial deployment, the CSOV will be operated by Edda Wind on charter with Ocean Breeze at the Bard 1 wind farm offshore Germany.
