CSSC to design new windfarm maintenance mothership

China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), through one of its subsidiaries, will soon commence detail design work on a new type of vessel that will be utilised mainly as a mothership for smaller craft tasked with maintenance of offshore wind farms.

The vessel will have a length of 78 metres, a beam of 28 metres, a displacement of 3,000 tonnes, a design speed of 13 knots, and a small waterplane area twin hull (SWATH) design.

The mothership may also be operated as an accommodation vessel and as a launch and recovery platform for unmanned aerial and surface vehicles.
