BP charters Safe Caledonia for North Sea operations

Cyprus-based Prosafe has signed a five-month charter contract with BP Exploration Operating Company for the provision of the Safe Caledonia semi-submersible accommodation vessel at the Clair Ridge platform, west of Shetland in the North Sea.

The US$13.5 million contract will begin at the end of May 2018.

The 1982-built Safe Caledonia will provide gangway-connected operations to support hook up and commissioning activities.

She completed a 20-year life extension in 2012-13.

Featuring a maximum of 454 beds, nine offices and 67 client workstations, Safe Caledonia includes a 350-square-metre deck area, power generation of 15,900kW, and a telescopic hydraulic gangway.
