UDS launches diving support and construction vessel Andy Warhol

Singapore-based Ultra Deep Solutions has launched a multipurpose diving support and construction vessel, affectionately known as the “Tomato Soup” ship, at Wuchang Shipbuilding’s yard in China.

Chief Executive Officer Shel Hutton said the 103.5-metre Andy Warhol was scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2018.

Capable of accommodating up to 120 personnel, Andy Warhol will be equipped with an 18-man diving system for operations down to 300 metres water depth. She comes with two heave-compensated subsea cranes, a 150-tonne offshore crane with a single fall up to 3,000 metres water depth, and one 20-tonne offshore crane.

The DNV-GL classed ship will be fitted with a work-class remotely operated vehicle (WROV) and an Observation-class ROV once she is delivered.

Mr Hutton said he expected a major charter contract to be confirmed for Andy Warhol in the next few weeks.
