Singapore shipbuilder Lita Ocean has delivered the first in a new series of three crewboats ordered by Qatari offshore support vessel operator Nakilat SvitzerWijsmuller.

NSW Al Yamama and its two sisters NSW Al Shuaiba and NSW Zikreet, which are still under construction, will be operated as wellhead maintenance vessels to support the operations of QatarEnergy.

The Bureau Veritas-class vessel has an LOA of 33 metres, a beam of seven metres, a draught of 1.625 metres, and a depth of 3.5 metres. It will be capable of transporting 40 personnel plus equipment at speeds of up to 24 knots thanks to the installation of three propellers driven by two Caterpillar C32 ACERT engines each rated 1,081 kW at 2,300 rpm.

The vessel’s main deck features generously spaced passenger seating, a spacious officers’ lounge with a refreshment centre, and two toilets. The large cargo deck can meanwhile hold up to 10 tonnes of assorted payloads, ensuring the vessel can perform the dual role of crew transfer and equipment transport.

Sleeping quarters for seven crew are located in the hull alongside a large lounge, a mess, and a toilet. The vessel’s elevated wheelhouse ensures the bridge crew have an excellent line of sight for day and night operations from both forward and aft-facing helm positions.

Power for the onboard systems is supplied by three Caterpillar C4.4 generators.
