Damen launches first unit in new large crewboat series

Damen Shipyards Antalya in Turkey has launched the first vessel in a new series of high-speed, 120-passenger crewboats.

The aluminium vessel will have a length of 73.6 metres, a deck area of 35 square metres, and a maximum speed of 40 knots courtesy of MTU main engines that will drive a pair of HamiltonJet units. A DP system developed by Kongsberg will also be installed.

Following the conclusion of outfitting activities now taking place, the crewboat will undergo sea trials off Antalya to test and demonstrate its capabilities. Following this, it will sail to the Netherlands, where a new gangway system will be installed in preparation for fully-integrated proof of concept trials in the North Sea.
