Swire Blue Ocean to acquire new turbine installation vessel

Swire Blue Ocean (SBO) intends to order a new wind turbine installation vessel with an option for a second newbuild, the company said in a press release dated September 16.

The decision to acquire new vessels comes as the Danish operator prepares itself for the installation of next-generation wind turbines over the coming decade.

SBO has shortlisted several international shipyards for the order of a new installation vessel, which will utilise a design developed by Netherlands-based GustoMSC.
