Singapore-based Miclyn Express Offshore, through its project division Express Offshore Solutions (EOS), and Hung Hua Construction (HHC) has completed the transportation of 84 pin piles for the Taiwan Power Company (TPC) Offshore Windfarm Phase 1 Project.

The work scope included the transportation of 80 pin piles from a South Korean fabrication yard and four pin piles from steel fabricator Ming Rong Yuan Business in Kaohsiung to the wind farm site.

The contract scope also included the design and fabrication of grillage, integrated lifting tools, and other barge modifications required for the pin pile transportation. The majority of these works were carried out in Batam, Indonesia, prior to the mobilisation of spreads and supervised by the project team ensuring compliance with offshore wind standards.

The pin piles were transported on a total of seven voyages by three tug and barge combinations. The barges were towed by EOS’ 105-tonne bollard pull anchor handling tug (AHT) Magellan 1, along with two other AHTs operating under the project team, from South Korea to Taiwan.

HHC’s AHT Orient No 8 was on site to assist in Taiwanese waters.
