SBM Offshore has placed an order with Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding (SWS) and China Merchants Industry Holdings (CMIH) for two more hulls for floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) units.

This brings to five the total number of hulls that the two Chinese companies will build for SBM Offshore’s Fast4Ward programme aimed at standardising and streamlining the construction and delivery of FPSO units. The first three hulls, including that of Liza Unity (pictured) launched earlier this year, are in various stages of construction and are already allocated to projects.

Each hull will have a length of 333 metres, a beam of 60 metres, and an expected oil storage capacity of two million barrels.
