The management Board of Klaipedos Nafta (KN), a Lithuanian operator of oil and LNG terminals, has taken a decision on the acquisition of a floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) from Hoegh LNG at the end of its lease agreement.

KN will acquire the FSRU Independence upon ownership right and become the owner by December 31, 2024 at the latest. The purchase contract meanwhile will be concluded no later than December 6, 2024.

Independence has been leased since 2014 from Höegh LNG, which won an international tender for the supply of a storage vessel in 2012.
