PSA gives consent for Songa Offshore pair to resume drilling

Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority has given consent to Statoil for Songa Equinox and Songa Endurance to resume their mobile drilling facility operations on the Troll field.

Operated by Songa Offshore, the semi-submersible drilling facility Songa Endurance will be used for drilling, completion, workover, intervention and plugging (P&A) of well 31/2-X-11 CH at a depth of 332 metres.

The drilling operations are scheduled to begin in March and are expected to last 43 days.

The semi-submersible drilling facility Songa Equinox will be used for drilling, completion, workover, intervention and plugging (P&A) of well 31/2-Y-24 CYH XT at a depth of 331 metres.

The drilling operations are scheduled to begin in April and are expected to last 80 days.

The Troll field is located 65 kilometres west of Kollsnes in Hordaland County and is the largest gas discovery made in the North Sea.

In other decisions, AkerBP also received consent to use semi-submersible drilling facility Deepsea Stavanger on the Skarv field.

Deepsea Stavanger will be used for workover/recompletion of wells 6507/5-A-3H and 6507/5-B-6 H on the Skarv field.

The activity is scheduled to start in March.
