Drilling kit contract for Awilco’s new semisubmersible rig

Germany's MHWirth has been awarded a US$100 million contract to supply drilling equipment for a new semisubmersible rig under construction for Awilco Drilling.

The Akastor-owned subsidiary entered into a contract with Keppel FELS to include a mid-water riser package. There are options for three packages.

The rig will be equipped and certified for drilling offshore Norway in water depths up to 1,524 metres, including the Barents Sea.

Delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2021.
