Construction under way on SBM’s first standardised FPSO hull

A steel-cutting ceremony has been held for the hull of SBM Offshore’s first “Fast4Ward” FPSO at the Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding shipyard.

SBM Offshore said the design of the Generation 4 standardised FPSO is said to provide a lower cost, improved quality and faster delivery.

SBM Offshore contracted the first newbuild, multi-purpose hull from China Shipbuilding Trading Co.

The construction scope relates to a generic hull which, with standardised topsides, forms the basis of the Fast4Ward concept.
