Construction begins on GeoSea’s Orion

Construction has started on GeoSea’s new offshore installation vessel Orion, with her keel-laying ceremony at China’s COSCO Shipyard.

The vessel will be deployed by DEME’s subsidiary for the construction of the offshore wind farms, to service the oil and gas industry and for decommissioning of offshore installations.

Capable of accommodating up to 131 people, the 216.5-metre DP3 vessel with a 5,000-tonne crane will be able to lift the loads to a height of more than 170 metres.

The delivery of the vessel is scheduled to take place in 2019.
