Dutch company unveils “game-changing” DP jack-up vessel

Netherlands-based OOS Energy has unveiled the design of its self-propelled, dynamically positioned jack-up vessel for offshore, oil, gas and wind operations.

The affiliated company of Holding OOS International Group said its multi activity unit (MAU) was a “game-changing vessel” capable of performing a wide range of services.

The unit is equipped with a high-efficiency “plug and abandonment” (P&A) package to perform well intervention/workover, drilling operations and performing activities simultaneous on multiple wells.

It also has two 1,200-tonne cranes, which could support removing the majority of platforms in the southern North Sea in water depths up to 80 metres.

In addition, it can transport and offload removed structures without the support of other vessels or heavy lift equipment, or be used in the offshore wind energy sector for installation of monopiles, jackets and turbines.

“The strength of our concept is SIMOPS (simultaneous operations); combining P&A with heavy lift operations up to 2,400 tonnes without the need of a marine spread or mobilising multiple vessels is, in our view, a cost-reducing exercise,” said Léon Overdulve, CEO of OOS International.

OOS Energy is finalising equipment packages and is in final discussions with shipyards for the construction of two units with an expected availability in the fourth quarter of 2020 and the first quarter of 2021.

The first unit is to be named Luctor et Emergo.
