Equinor PSV collides into offshore platform

Stratfjord A

Equinor’s platform supply vessel (PSV) Sjøborg collided into the Stratfjord A production platform while the former was conducting loading operations in the UK-Norway boundary of the North Sea on Friday, June 7.

The company said the platform had just implemented a scheduled production stop and there was no production on the platform when the incident occurred at around 00:55 UTC.

There were 276 people on board Stratfjord A and 12 people on the PSV when the incident occurred. No injuries have been reported.

The platform suffered noticeable damage to its lifeboat station but the full extent of results of the collision are still being determined.

Personnel have since been transferred from Stratfjord A to other Equinor platforms via helicopter as damage assessments are being conducted.
