Keel laid for semi-sub crane vessel OOS Walcheren

The keel for OOS International’s newest semi-submersible crane vessel, OOS Walcheren, was laid in a ceremony at the shipyard of China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu) on Tuesday, December 4.

OOS Walcheren is OOS International’s third vessel to use the asymmetric braceless semi-submersible design. The first is OOS Gretha, currently operating in Brazil, and the second is OOS Serooskerke, which is under construction and due for delivery in the third quarter of 2019.

OOS Walcheren will boast an overall size of 138 metres in length and 81 metres in width upon completion.

The vessel will stay in dry dock for eight months, where it will be outfitted and assembled before undocking at the end of July 2019.
