Norwegian firm develops high-performance crew transfer vessels

Umoe Mandal in Norway has developed a high-performance crew transfer vessel for the offshore oil and gas sector.

Based on technology originally developed for military applications, it was designed to reduce transit time and enhance passenger comfort, safety and efficiency.

The 38.2-metre LOA by 11.4-metre vessel is designed to transport 150 passengers and a crew of six at speeds of up to 55 knots.

The 39-tonne DWT vessel is powered by two 2,880kW main engines, two 90kW auxiliary engines, two 550kW lift fan engines and two water jets.

It can be fitted with a gangway and a SeaSpyder personnel transfer system.
