OOS International acquires new semi-submersible accommodation unit

Dutch firm OOS International has bought a newly built semi-submersible accommodation unit for use in Brazil.

Originally contracted by Ocean Challenger, the vessel has been renamed OOS Tiradentes (formerly CR-600).

Developed by CIMC Raffles, the new unit is due to depart from Yantai in China next month and be stationed in Brazil under contract with Petrobras.

OOS Tiradentes is a self-propelled unit equipped with a pair of electrically-driven cranes each with a capacity up to 60 tonnes, and accommodation for 600 people.

The vessel has a dynamic positioning system in accordance with DP3 requirements and offers safe access to and from an offshore installation using a Marine Aluminium telescopic gangway.

It has length of 106.45 metres, width of 68.9 metres, and deck area of 2,100 square metres. The maximum operating draught is 20 metres in sea temperatures between 0°C and 40°C.
