Tullow Ghana awards four-year drilling contract

Deep-water drillship Maersk Venturer is on its way to Ghana to fulfill a four-year-contract by Tullow Ghana.

Starting in February, the contract for Maersk Drilling covers development drilling on the Jubilee and TEN fields offshore Ghana.

Constructed in 2014, the 228-metre Maersk Venturer works at depths up to 3,600 metres. It accommodates 230 people. Driven by six 7,000kW diesel generators and six 5,500kW azimuth thrusters, Maersk Venturer has four knuckle boom cranes.

Maersk Rigworld Ghana, Maersk Drilling’s joint venture with Rigworld International Services, will provide local services to drive job creation and competency development.
