The US Navy recently conducted a vehicle christening for the service’s first Snakehead Large Displacement Unmanned Undersea Vehicle (LDUUV).

The UUV is designed to be a modular, reconfigurable, multi-mission undersea craft deployed from submarine large ocean interfaces. It is equipped with a government-owned architecture, mission autonomy capabilities and vehicle software, advanced hull materials, and lithium-ion battery certification.

Deployed from a submarine dry deck shelter, the LDUUV will provide guidance and control, navigation, situational awareness, propulsion, manoeuvring and sensors in support of undersea missions.
