Saab has been awarded a contract by the Danish Ministry of Defence’s Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (DALO) to upgrade three remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) optimised for mine countermeasures missions.

The DKK 5.6 million (US$810,000) upgrade programme on the three Double Eagle Mark IIS ROVs will include the incorporation of newer sensors such as sonar, cameras, GPS, and inertial navigation systems (INS).

The ROVs were originally acquired by Denmark from Saab in the 1980s. These continue to be used today on the Royal Danish Navy’s fleet of Holm-class mine countermeasures and patrol vessels.
