Construction completed on first production version of Saab’s newest ROV

Saab’s unmanned vehicles subsidiary Saab Seaeye has completed construction of the first production example of the Sea Wasp remotely operated vehicle (ROV).

The 1.7-metre-long, 90-kilogram vessel, which has been in development since 2014, will be used primarily for underwater explosive ordnance disposal (EOD). It is equipped with a multi-beam forward-looking sonar, colour cameras, and ordnance disposal equipment deployed through a manipulator arm.

The formal unveiling of the first production Sea Wasp is scheduled for later this year.
