Vietnam secures JICA loan for patrol vessel newbuildings
The Vietnamese government has entered into an agreement wherein it will borrow JPY36.6 billion (US$348.66 million) from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to finance the construction of six new patrol vessels.
The vessels will be built by a Japanese company and are scheduled to be delivered to the Vietnam Coast Guard by 2025.
Missions will include maritime security patrols, law enforcement, and search and rescue (SAR).
