Goa Shipyard has delivered a new offshore patrol vessel (OPV) to the Indian Coast Guard.

The 105- by 12-metre ICGS Sarthak is the tenth to be built under the Samarth-class, which are improved variants of the coast guard’s earlier Sankalp-class OPVs. Its primary role will be to conduct patrols of the waters of India’s exclusive economic zone.

The OPV can reach a maximum speed of 24 knots or sail up to 6,500 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 12 knots. Armament includes a 30-millimetre naval gun and two 12.7-millimetre machine guns.
